Dr. Merchant hails from India, where she began her medical training. After moving to the United States, Dr. Merchant completed her Residency training at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. As an Internist, Dr. Merchant is trained to care for patients with multi-system diseases, as well as perform general health examinations and consult on complex medical problems.
Dr. Merchant says that she chose to specialize in internal medicine because “I like variety and want to treat all major body systems, but most importantly, I LOVE my patients and building long term relationships. My relationship with them and knowing who they are, what they like, and their lifestyle gives me invaluable insight into what could potentially be ailing them and allows me to make the best diagnosis. Fred is a primary care physician assistant with more than twelve years of experience and twenty years of government service. In 2011 Fred retired as a Lieutenant Commander from the US Public Health Service. He is an NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant.
Fred earned his Physician Assistant Degree from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine Family Physician Assistant Program. He earned a Masters of Business Administration in Health Management from the University of Phoenix in 2004.
